NCRMS Library Announces Summer Reading Challenge Prize Recipient

Sixth Grader Dylan Lempin Receives Kindle for Summer Reading Success

Miller Place, New York (October 2020)—With the 2020-21 school year in full swing, North Country Road Middle School in the Miller Place School District has concluded its NCRMS Library Summer Reading Challenge and is pleased to announce this year’s prize recipientsixth grader Dylan Lempin. In recognition of his hard work and success in the program, Dylan was presented with a brand-new Kindle Fire 7, a generous donation from the Miller Place PTO.

Throughout the summer, NCRMS students were encouraged to keep a record of the books they read and complete tasks on the library’s Choice Board, an interactive learning menu that enables students to have a choice in their work. Tasks ranged from “read a biography” and “read an award-winning book” to more complex like “if you could step into a book you’ve read, which one would it be and why?” and “write a letter to a character in one of your books.”

The NCRMS Library Summer Reading Challenge encourages students to continue reading throughout the summer months to enhance their independent reading skills, expand their vocabulary, and broaden their ideas and experiences. All NCRMS students that participated in the program, and successfully completed it, had their name submitted into the raffle for this year’s prize.
